Fish Finder and kissena park

i used to fish Kissena in the early 70s. when i first went there they rented boats to row around the lake with.
i started with sunnies and small carp then catfish and bass as i got more into fishing. i met a guy there that caught big carp consistently with doughball but he would bring italian bread and toss chunks of it over where his doughball was on the bottom. the theory was the sunnies would come for the bread and leave the doughball alone and the carp would come with the feeding commotion, the guy caught big carp all the time so i think the technique worked! havent been there in 30 years now, glad to see its still a good fishing spot!

I use big hooks for the carp but the small sunnies steal alot of the bread. I occasionally catch a bigger sunnie but I don't really target them
 
Today I went fishing at kissena park and the fishing was great I had 2 carp a catfish and a largemouth bass. Caught the bass on the deep diving crankbait and the carp And catfish on bread. I tried 5 other spots nothing. Last spot I got all four.
 
Sorry for the late report. Had a bad incident yesterday and had to see a doctor. I went to kissena park on Monday and got skunked I tried my crankbait for bass and bread for carp and catfish. I had hits on the bread but couldn’t connect. Was Asking other fisherman and except for one guy who had a small bass on a worm nobody caught anything also. Going to stop kissena for awhile and target stripers for awhile. Depending on how I feel I will try this Saturday on the fishfinder 12 to 5 for bass.
 
Sorry for this report. I won’t be fishing for awhile I have 2nd degree burns on my stomach. Spilled hot tea there. Once I get better I will go on the fishfinder for bass 12-5. Might try kissena this weekend if I am able
 
Today I went fishing at kissena park for two hours and fishing was excellent. Had 3 catfish and a carp. All fish on bread. Not sure when I am going on the fishfinder for bass. Hopefully once this month.
 
Sorry for the late report. Yesterday I went fishing at Kissena park and fishing was ok. Caught 2 catfish on bread had several hits but couldn’t connect probably sunnies stealing bait. Not targeting sunnies so if I get a decent size it will probably hook itself. Mostly small sunnies in there. No fishing this weekend busy and next week depends on the weather hopefully i get a window to go fishing next week.
 
Yesterday I went fishing at Kissena Park and fishing was great I caught 7 catfish most of them good Size all on bread. I did try the crankbait for bass nothing. No hits. I might try a different lure another fisherman was getting hits. I tried another spot because my normal spot there were to many sunfish. I caught 3 big catfish at this spot then the sunnies took over and left and went back to my normal spot and caught 4 more. Fished from 1 to 5pm. Going on the fishfinder tomorrow for striped bass 12 to 5pm. Taking a break from kissena park for While. Tight lines
 
Two day report. I went fishing at the park yesterday and I had another great day of fishing 5 catfish and a carp. All on bread. Today I am only going an hour to use my new lure for largemouth bass. If I catch anything I will post again if not I won't. Might go to Kissena tomorrow early if it's not raining for bass again. Tight lines
 
I went fishing at kissena park Sunday and Monday both days I caught nothing. Both days were short sessions. Going on the fishfinder tomorrow for striped bass then I won't be fishing for almost a week. Will look to go next weekend after election day. Tight lines
 
Today I went fishing at kissena park and fishing was great. Caught my first 2 black crappie at the park. One was small and the other was big. On a small crappie lure. I also caught a catfish on bread. My next trip at kissena might be on Thursday if I have time. If not will try the weekend. Not going fishing for striped bass this week.
 
Today I went fishing at Kissena Park and fishing was awesome. I first tried the spot where I caught the crappie and there I caught 3 catfish. Fishing shut down so i went to my normal spot on the other side of the lake and I was getting lots of hits but I couldn't hook up so I changed to a small hook and I caught 20 sunnies then the sunnies stopped biting I found out why I caught a big largemouth bass 2 to 3 lbs. Great day of fishing. Caught 25 fish today. Here are some pics.

Yesterday I went fishing at kissena park i caught alot of fish but it was sunnies again over 15 of them. I tried for bass catfish and Carp no luck. Going saltwater fishing next week weather permitting. If not will go back to kissena. No fishing this weekend. Tight lines.
 
I did a short session yesterday and caught one bluegill in an hour was trying for bass and crappie no luck. Once the rain ends I will go again today.
 
2 day report at kissena park. Yesterday caught 3 sunnies and a turtle today I went and caught nothing. I am not going fishing again at kissena park until striper fishing ends Dec 15. Was very cold today and it's going to get much colder going forward. Going to pick my spots going forward.
