Nothing like jigging with a Charlie Graves Fluke Bullet. ;)

Hi Richie. Where can I look into getting the CTS built? How much will it run me? Which model Phenix M1 should I look into?

got a couple of minutes ...come down to how much you love the sport ..I love fishing & running a boat its my haven ...so fluke fishing in MTK does have its challenges . you can fish off the beach south side caught a 9.65 there or out by cartwright 90' with current..I tend to fish two rods most of the time a 2 to 4oz spinner & a up to 8oz bait caster ...

the 2 to 4 oz most of the time will be a spinner phenix M! / UMBX or my new favorite RTS ...I started using STS lures made by Mike Lang great stuff great guy knows is chit ....

On the Bait Caster side CTS all the way BJ /SBD or ER all depends on the bite & drift...If I were only to bring one rod would have to say CTS 100% ..blank? me toss up BJ or SBD..if your fishing 4 plus oz BJ ... 5 or less SBD just a super sweet bend hard lively tip great hook set..Both blanks just set up on the fish perfect and are able to drive the hook & with that CTS bend the fish wont pop off..

all these blanks are sensitive and give you that edge ...they make you feel connected to whats going on the bottom..but blank choice is only half the battle ..no matter how good a blank is its its not set up to the angler & to the task you need it to do ..it just wont perform correctly ..understanding the blank & what it can do & how to get it to do it is just as if not more important than the blank itself..

everything that's done to the blank can alter its performance ..guide choice & placement , reel seat placement & grips all factor into its performance ,,art work is last ..

Thanks for the detailed response Rich. I can tell you know your chit and appreciate your help.

You had me up until Mike Lang. Great guy. I use his jigs too. Fish the same areas you described as well.

However, you really lost me at all the abbreviations LOL.

On the Spinner side I am set. I have a Tidemaster that I love and was cheap and works for me. It fits the bill when there is no drift and I need to cast out and work it back yada yada. This rod can handle 0-3 on the spin.

However, I really need two conventional rods. One that can jig 2-5 (the main one I really need and am willing to pay for) and then another heavier set up that can handle 6-12 range.

What does BJ or SBD stand for? How much would a CTS like you describe run me?

A fluke isn't a big fish. A ten pound fluke is a big fish.
From my experience fishing in Montauk on six pack
charters. A five pound fluke is the norm. It's also been
a while since I chartered. I've been putting most of
my efforts offshore. What I can tell you and do rem-
ember is that a strip bait catches big fish. Strip a
searobin or some flukebelly. At times you'll be in a
certain area where there's a good bite but you're
going to need to power drift. IT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!
A diamond jig is a big fish jig, skipped off the bottom.
Sometimes you might find yourself baiting the hook
with a strip bait. Just something to think about.
Good Luck!

Tell you the truth not 100% sure ..BJ Bait/jig ..SBD silent but deadly ? ER no effin idea...but i can try to tell you the difference as I know it..

BJ standard are short jiggers moderate action hard tips for working jigs designed for med/large fish...what I did with CTS is design 7' & 7'4" blanks for east coast fishing..redesign lighter blanks BJ700L , mix tips & butt ends redesign lite jig big fish blanks BJ701XL & L ..med/lite tips beefy back end BJ702L and deep water big jig & fish BJ743 and working on a softer tip BJ743 now...the BJ blanks have extreme lifting power for each line class..they dont lay over and make the angler and reel do the work..all BJ blank are ultra thin thick wall blanks are able to out lift blanks two to three times there OD..

SBD are parabolic blanks tips are a bit harder than BJ's and have about 20% more bend...I really like them for seabass and fluke ..with that extra 20% bend you can give it that little lift to check without really moving the jig/bait much when there playing with the jig/bait ..whats also nice is with there hard tips you have the power to set the hook on the down stroke..

BJ = Bay Jigging

SBD = Small blank diameter

sure? the BJ were short tuna jiggers ? I just sold some BJ tuna jiggers... sounds good ..I like the SBD that sounds about right..

I guess I'll ask because the stencil on the blank says something different than the letters on the back end of the blank & how I order them..
