So? What's the big deal with that?

So the original story by Andersen is no doubt about unrequited gay, possibly asexual love and a lot darker than the Disney version, but I assume he's upset because the actress is all one color and has actual human legs, whereas the "real" Ariel was half fish and half green. It's hard enough for mermaids to get decent screen rolls, and here they are, giving the role to a human!
