In the 70's, when I was in elementary school, we would go to Brother's Pizza in Fresh Meadows, on Union Tpke. A slice served on a piece of wax paper and a grape drink in a paper cup for under $1. I still see the sign every time I pass by on the LIE. 15 years ago, my son was a a baseball program near by, so I stopped in for a slice and some nostalgia. Less cheese, served on a paper plate, but still excellent. The place had not changed much. I told the old fellow behind the counter that I had been there as a little kid 40 years earlier. He said that if I had been served by a young, off the boat arrival from Italy - that was him.
I thought that was pretty cool.
