Was excited to see a calm, dry morning, but should have known better when I could hear the waves crashing on the ledges outside of the harbor. Of course I said, NAH since the wind was light and I had the itch.
Got out into the bay and it wasn't too bad, but I had to throttle back to 14 kts, bouncing a bit. On one bounce my head came in contact with a handing throw ring and off went my hat. Spun the wheel around and executed the first Hat Overboard Drill of the season. After hat retrieval I realized I was barely into the bay and it was going to be one of those waves from multiple directions morning out on the cod humps. The Devil popped up on one shoulder, "Ah screw it, you know you want to fish!" And then that damned Angel popped up on the other, "Seriously, you going to creep out there, only to bounce around to play C&R with cod? It's not like your schedule is preventing you from fishing every other day this week, ABORT!!"
So I sulked back to the barn, probably for the better...
