Kind of a Big Deal - In My Mind Anyway

Sportsman's Outfitters has a nice deal on J-Braid X8 in dark green. $9.99 for a 165yd spool.

Is this what you use?

Nope. Never tried it. However many here seem to like it. Not mention Daiwa sells tons of it.

I stick with Sufix 832 and Berkley X-9. Also one reel filled with Gosen X8 and one with PP MaxCuarto. All seem excellent to me.

Always wanted to try this, but these insignificantly sized spools, I'll have to pass. Shades of "tester" paint samples...

There's also the Daiwa Saltiga boat.

Be careful with that J-Braid "Grand" line. Though I haven't direct experience with it, the reviews I've read from guys who's opinions I trust is that its not so hot. For the most part they all went back to the "regular" J-Braid.

Still using Berkley Fireline, the same fireline I have had on some reels for ten years, lol. Gotta remember with the limited hours in the sun I put in (2 or 3 hour morning trips on the yak, two hour late afternoons in the fall surfcasting) I could almost do the same with mono ! But I did use 10lb J braid on my Tsunami Slimwave 6' Medium I use off the yak for fluke and weaks. May go back to 15lb or so as I found it tough to tie the skinny stuff on the yak even with my bifocals. Years back I had heard on the old website people had problems with Power Pro so never tried it.

Once the braid loses it's wax you'll start to notice wind knots.
If it goes unnoticed, the more you fish it. The worse it gets.
Your options are. Put the bottom of the spool on top. Change
the top half or spool the whole reel with new line. Certain braid
lines hold there wax better than others. Good Luck!
WAX :)

Yet it still maintains its strength or seems to since its like impossible to break even 20lb fireline off the yak. I wonder if I ran it over a disk of bees wax I have when my hand and eye coordination were good enough to make the Cutty Sark and a brigantine model. Would that get rid of the "furriness?" (Can't do miniature blocks and tackle any more, just more modern warships, sigh.)

Alright, I've let this go on long enough. On-point discussion is what we want here. The above ain't that - so it goes bye-bye. Chunkster - I'm asking you to please stop with the off-topic nonsense. Only asking this one time . . .
