I see what the model is saying. Wouldn't that push a bunch of water into the coast before it passes?
Oh, I'm expecting wind, rain and big waves, but I'm on the the back side (west) of a peninsula on a tidal river that isn't more 500 yds wide where I'm situated. My dock is well-protected from all winds, but especially easterlies so I'm less concerned as this continues to drift east. @Old Mud has already put in an order for big wave videos by the lighthouse that I intend to fill...

Spent the whole day battening things down. Overkill IMO, but the Admiral is confident we'll see a Category 1 Hurricane, while I'm thinking Tropical Storm. Being on the west side of the storm, the storm surge will be lessened so I'm started to breath easier. Tomorrow I'll make my decision, "To haul, or not to haul. That is the question."

still think that area west of the storm sees a storm surge
Oh, absolutely, and that will be the decided factor regarding hauling. The storm will die quickly when it dips its toe in the Gulf of Maine. Gotta love those 63°F water temps...

Right now the Euro Model is worst case, as being the closest to the Maine coast, but even so they're predicting no hurricane force winds here, with gusts that might hit 50 mph, so there isn't much energy driving the storm surge...

Yes I see what you are saying, but before it gets there, thinking it will have pushed a lot of water in front of it. Forgot about the cold water too, that will quiet it down real quick.

Still moving NW. Going to update around the clock. Looks like Nova Scotia is getting a direct hit. Tropical storm watch for Bermuda.Lee is very large hurricane. Hurricane-force winds extend outward
up to 125 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 240 miles.
