I was referring to the concerning impact these baits might have on fish. Despite never having caught a trout with those worms while bass fishing, this particular fish was caught with a flutter spoon. It's perplexing how it managed to consume so many worms. Could it be that trout are secretly scavengers?

I wouldn't think twice about eating it, though. The fish appears lean, but it certainly put up a strong fight.

George yes pristine, surely the synthetic worm is breaking down into the fish’s flesh… mentally it wouldn’t be pleasant for me…

Celly, those salmon going for sled dogs are what everyone uses. If they had to buy dog food up there their would be no sled dogs. They are as as necessary as a suv here. It's not just the Virtual Reality shows it's real.

So, I have to ask, as I do not know the answer....

All the plastic worms sold at shows....Are they digestable by fish.

There are so many: Z Mans, Plugbait, All American Stink, Fishbites, Hogy Sand eels and even sponge strips soaked in Gulp juice.

Do the manufacturers make any claims as to digestibility?

I emailed a few manufacturers and asked them questions regarding the digestibility of their product. None replied.

It could mean one of two things:

• They don’t know due to the fact that they never did a study
• They do know and do not want to share the data.

I didn't contact any directly but on two websites absolutely no mention of digestibility is present, and I recalled a third manufacturer once bragged some years back about not using organic material. Plastics don't digest and on that issue I urge everyone to get a whole house water filter or at least decent water filters for all drinking water sources since its now been proven that we are ingesting nanoplastics with every bottle of Poland Spring, Kirkland, Deer Park, Nestle, Purified, etc., etc. drunk. I use metal thermoses when hunting and will switch from a reuseable bottle when kayakfishing and surfcasting. EVs generate more rubber dust that is inhaled and swallowed than "normal" cars due to their weight causing tire wear. When does it end?

i was un-lucky to pick this 9” synthetic lure here on a Boca Florida Beach… to answer my question, prolly all the same material as all the others and yes it “FLOATS”…

as i see it, any lost jelly worms fresh water or salt, become an eye popping meal for hungry fish, turtles too… cellie…

i understand that Sir, my thought was passing up on a fish that’s questionable for the table, as it wouldn’t be immoral to resource it in a different way…

i’ve caught blues who were sickly looking and bass wit little hitch hikers attached , forcing me to pass on a fish dinner…

2 blues caught 15 miles apart the same season… cellie…

Does the info in this thread make you re-think the use of plastics???

At least, if you have a favorite, push the manufacturer for data on digestibility???

I have used Gulp and Fishbites. I’m going to ask. In the meantime, despite the cost, I may go back to spearing.

Same thing with bucktails. Pork rinds are no longer available. I may use bucktails like Capt. John Paduano uses.
