Jets

Saleh had to go but it's not solving anything for this season. Hackett gotta go too!
The system is broken and Rodgers is a bad hit from being sidelined and possibly contemplating retiring.
Only the Jets can screw things up the way they did!

Colin Herd just called Hackett the worst OC in the league. I agree it was time for Saleh to go, all due to Rodgers, but they didn't go far enough. I guess Woody was pissed that they lost in from of his UK buddies and he knew canning Hackett would kill the season because of Mr. Rodgers. As a lifelong Yankee fan I've seen what's it's like to rely on your stars. no matter how flakey they are.

I do think Rodgers will stick around a while and produce, and if they just let him call his own game, they will do better. I don't think he's too old, but at the same time there's no chance he survives the season if the O line doesn't get it together.

I predict a blowout of the struggling Buffalo Bills Monday night (where's our friend @JackPrintMD?) , launching the New York Jets into first place! And on their way to the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!

I ran a quick ai search on the firing and came across this,

Robert Saleh, the former head coach of the New York Jets, was seen wearing a sweatshirt with a Lebanese flag patch during a game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season. This act was part of an initiative by the NFL to allow players and coaches to honor their heritage through patches representing their backgrounds. Saleh, who is of Lebanese descent, has worn such patches before as a nod to his heritage.

Could this have added to it? Was it wise for him to do that with what's happening in that part of world in front of Woodys UK pals?

He was escorted out. Here's a summary from all confirmed news outlets of what transpired.

Robert Saleh, the former head coach of the New York Jets, was indeed escorted out of the team's facility by security after being fired. This decision was reportedly made by Jets owner Woody Johnson, and Saleh was informed of his dismissal during a meeting with Johnson and Christopher Johnson, while general manager Joe Douglas was not present

Saleh's firing came as a surprise to him, as he had arrived at work expecting to prepare for an upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills. Reports indicate that he was "blindsided" by the decision and disappointed that he did not have the opportunity to turn the team's fortunes around Following his dismissal, Saleh was not given a chance to address the players, which is typically customary in such situations.

The circumstances surrounding his departure have raised some questions and concerns, particularly from groups like the Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR), who have called for an explanation regarding the manner in which Saleh was escorted out Despite these events, Saleh has indicated that he does not plan to pursue any coaching positions for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season and may consider a defensive coordinator role after the season concludes

If it was a Palestinian or Iranian flag, but the flag of Lebanese descendants Danny and Marlo Thomas, Shakira, Zoe Saldana, Paul Anka, Vince Vaughan and Jamie Farr ? Did the sweatshirt have "I am incompetent" in Farsi as a caption underneath the flag LOL ?

Different coach. Same results.

While the offense looked better, the penalties and lack of discipline is killing them.

Lack of an edge rusher becomes more glaring each week. Better teams are exploiting it!

Was at the game so painful to watch. But some of the penalties were ridiculous the refs didn’t help matters. And when you’re only job is to kick field goals there’s no excuse for there performances

SWMBO not a football fan. At one point after the baseball ended, I turned to her and said, you can simply not learn ANY of the rules of football if you wanted to by watching this shoddy debacle.

As a longtime Jet fan, I'm starting to lose hope and stay positive.

Rogers looks old. Add a horrible O-line and we have an ineffective QB who's getting hit at an alarming rate.

Most disappointing is the defense. Can't stop the run. Can't get to the QB and most disappointing is can't get a turnover when we need it.

I feel they will get better but by then we'll be playing spoiler.

Was deer hunting today (saw five, but no shot) and got home to see the last three minutes. I feel like I am reliving Mickey Mantle's last season (1969 or was it '68?) Let this old guy retire while he still has his marbles and doesn't need surgery again ! As for the team, yes, spoilers they may be this year, but that is it.

I agree with all the comments about how badly they played. But let's not forget the kicking game. The missed extra point was just awful and how does he miss a FG from what was it 42 yards. Get those 4 points and they win by 1. Also, delay of game penalty on the 2 point conversion? How does that happen? Now you need 7 yards for the 2 points. The ball was set on the 2. Now it's on the 7. Get those 2 points and they win by 3. So much for this season.
