So like most of youz guys we like to BBQ, and entertain. We have a nice Weber SS grill, but it just doesn't cut it. I much prefer charcoal so to that end I put in with my own two hands, the "BBQ section" of the patio. When we did the patio I had to get a contractor in as it required heavy equipment to put the bolders in place, backfill etc. We used as much of the property as possible without going too crazy. There was rock ledge at one end of the patio that came up and that where the contracted part of the patio ended. That's where I built the 1 step up to the BBQ section.

In the photo below you can see the stepped up BBQ section. Weber on the left, built in charcoal grill on the right.

The grill is covered in the photo I'll look for some uncovered photos. You can cook up a storm on it.

Here is a link to where I got the grill from. L-1500/S Series Charcoal Grill
The company is called PilotRock and they make the kind of grills you find at State Parks, etc. It is heavy duty steel, bolted to the ground, you can't take the grills off, etc. I did alter mine so that I could take 1/2 the grill top off to make it easier to load with charcoal.

The grill I selected had a steel flange on the bottom. I drilled 4 holes into the rock ledge, epoxied in 4 - 5/8" SS threaded rods, leveled with non-shrink grout, and bolted down tight. The surrounding stonework is not needed to hold it in place just finishes it off and provides a little additional counter type space.

The cover for the grill I had made by a company called Coversall. They make custom covers for anything you want esp. any type of outdoor furniture or whatever. Much better quality than anything you can find at Frontgate and pricing is very reasonable. Here is a link to Coversall. Custom Covers I Have purchased 3 different covers from the and very happy with all. Each piece I upgraded to the heavy duty fabric for a few dollars more.

My Weber grill is probably 10+ years old but if you saw it you would think it's a month old. Looks new. That's because all the heavy duty BBQ-ing is done on the charcoal. The gas Weber duty is for things like heating up bread, baked potatoes, and maybe used as an oven for a second turkey or something like that around the holidays.

The charcoal grill is great, and you can cook up plenty of food.

Here are 2 large whole filet mignons, and about 2 dozen chicken cutlets ready to go.

Just finished transplanting about 200 Daffodils, in front of the massive Rhododendron. Now going to extend the flowerbed. You can see the shovel makes in the grass. Then going to transplant a ton of Hosta in front of the daffodils. I also transplanted 3 wild grown junipers and a couple Azaleas. Running out of steam. Going to be asleep early tonight
