longcast
Well-Known Angler
Had non-fishing plans that fell apart at the last minute. I sailed solo today looking for bass as I had the morning to myself. Started right at grey light and popped a fish on the first cast. Cool, let's do that again, they are sitting tight to that structure. I look up to move the boat and see diamond jigs flying from every direction. Where do they come from????? Ugh! So I make a short run and found another large pod of fish. Popped a bunch and again look up and see more than a dozen boats heading my way at warp speed. What to do? Stay and fight with the googins? Nope, let's leave fish and hopefully find more. Take a much longer run and find them. Thank goodness there were less birds and they were hanging low and out of sight. Had a great sand eel bite for a long time before the fleet found me. You know it's time to leave when you smell coffee and realize you got a guy 20 feet off your stern. Who does that?? Mind you, I looked away for just enough time to land a fish and he was there. Then listening to the roar of 1,2,3 engines tearing up the water. Guys, the water is only 18 feet deep. Time to go!
Anyway, I had my fill. Close to 40 fish, most over slot, but was able to add a slot to the box.
