Again a lot of these knuckleheads would have them up in late October & early November. Even if you waited until Thanksgiving - that's still a month of "tree" which was already beginning to shed its needles.

I always got rid of mine on January 2nd - I wouldn't put it up until the week before Christmas - but that was enough "tree" time for me.

Ya remember these ambitious fellows selling trees ? in my hood, well one of the partners was selling ? V flowers over the weekend here.. he gave me uncomfortable news that Chris, died in a fire from a electric bike explosion in his Bronx apartment..
Sad News indeed... Chris is far right... cellie...

HOLY CRAP!!! Just saw a TV blurb about Christmas Trees on LI and in the background saw the prices. You folks are paying $100 for a tree??? No wonder so many go artificial.

This year's average price for a nice, fresh 6' balsam here is ~$40. We usually buy, but since we have to put up our tree late, I'm biting the bullet and harvesting one of our own, for that wonderful $0 dollar cost. I've been planting balsam firs for the past few years and some are starting to reach their prime.

The current issue is that the nicest looking trees are so beautiful that I don't want to cut them, as they're part of the view down to the water. I moved my "Tanenbaum Farm" off to the Lower 40 last year so when they are mature, they would not be an important part of the vista, and I wouldn't hesitate to take the bow saw to them...

Yeah!
We did a Fraser Fir this year after a few years having a fake tree. $89 bucks here. The Balsam Firs were about $40.
We did preliminary decorations last night… have some more ornaments to go on and our Angel at the top.

Nice on planting and harvesting your own tree, Dom! Reminds of the scenes and theme of Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase…. Frigging gets a 25 foot tree on the forest and puts it in the living room lol ?
