Natural or Artificial Christmas Tree/Hanukah Bush/Festivus Pole??

We NEVER would consider artificial, although that got quite pricey during out last years out in IL when we were lucky to get a decent tree for less than $75. Moving to Maine significantly dropped that price to $0 - 40, as we've been able to find freebies on our property or buy beautiful trees at crazy low prices.

So who's still going with a real tree and what are they setting you back in your neck of the woods?

This year was a "Doughnut Hole" year for us as the acceptable trees in "PopPop's Christmas Tree Farm" and the "Across The Street Free Tree Farm" were either too small or too big, so off to a tree lot we went and found this beautiful 7' Balsam Fir for $30!! At that price there's NFW to worry about buying a fake tree...

I prefer fresh cut trees as I sold them for over 10 years( great memories).
Yesterday my wife bought a skinny corner type 7 ft artificial tree. As we will be celebrating Christmas in the summer when my son returns home from the Air Force. Then I will probably buy a live tree and plant it in the front yard after our Christmas in summer is over.

Artificial for our 40 years of marriage. I think we have gone through four or five trees. But that $700 figure above would probably pay for all of them.

Haven’t put up a tree in 30 years, only some stringer lights and trinkets... cellfish...

I would put one up - but I'm normally not at home on Christmas/Christmas Week. I'm either up in NY or over in Richmond. That's the last 7 years. The last 3 or 4 years when I was still up in Long Island - I was going through a divorce. The "Wicked Witch of the East' & my daughter are/were Jewish.

So I didn't see the point.

For the first time in forever we went with an artificial. We have been using Costco the past few years, but their prices have gone from $25 to $60 this year, We did the fire house tree's for a while, and even did the cutting down live tree's which for the east end of LI can get fairly pricey. A few seasons past we cut down a live tree and the weather was very nice that day, and the few weeks before that....so nice that a day or so after we put the tree up, we had tons of spider webs all over the tree and the corner it was in. That was NOT a fun morning, I guess the warm weather didn't take care of the insects that were still alive and kicking, and they enjoyed a nice warm house to spread their legs. So this year, the boss decided lets get a fake tree....OK, as long as she is happy. Looks nice, and she got a spray to give that fresh cut tree smell. IF it lasts a few years, it will be worth the money.

the tree themselves last like forever. its the "built in" lights that eventually go, half a string at a time. ask me how I know.
