On the TV news in the area of the Hempstead reef John
Looks like real sticky stuff to fish around.
John
It's funny you mention this as from what I can see some of it will allow potters. I'll be checking it out and reporting back.Yes, and it's SO sticky no dragger, even with rock hoppers, will try to drag it, whether or not it's legal to do.

Now that's not fake news! I'm going to do some counting on the Smithtown Reef when the weather allows.I work for the tugboat companies that did the dumping. The railroad cars were 12 foot high by 55 foot long. It will really depend on how the site on the bottom. The sides were removed so it’s all exposed steel beam in the shape of a rectangular box.Theres also about a 30 by 15 foot turbine blade. Its going to be nasty stuff to fish for sure
Did they say when??
I wish they would create an offshore site a few miles southeast of Cholera. There is a nice area between the shipping lanes that is just open bottom. Great for Fire Island and Freeport party and rec boats. Doable from Deb's as well.
It is in the works Aquarius. The NYSDEC us proposing creating a 16 Fathoms Reef between FI and JI.
