Matt - all the above chatter will have you over thinking this whole thing, potentially throwing you off your game. Fishing has no hard and fast rules, there is room for all kinds of fish-hooking styles. The way I hook fish is certainly not the only way, it's just my way. Same goes for Mike - and YOU! It's perfectly fine to experiment with different styles, but in the end you need to do you. Seems to me from the pictures I've seen that you do just fine with the flat ones.

I tend to overthink a lot of things HAHA. Appreciate it, I'll let you know how I make out on next trip. In meantime I might have to check out these 2 new rods when they come out.

You were the first one I thought of, because of your boat. At $50 it's worth a gamble.

A shortie spinner is my go to rod for Striper jigging and tossing swim shads from a Party Boat. You can really fling 'em underhand better than with a longer rod

Yea I have spinners in the 5 foot and change size for that as well.
