New York Boat Fishing As Of 4-27-20

I would like to think I have a pretty decent grasp of math. I run a 6 pack on a 28 footer. If this proposal is true I can carry 11 passengers, which obviously exceeds my legal capacity!?
I am guessing there will be a different formula for vessels in the 6 pack fleet.

Captmike,
This is a proposal for reopening NJ party and charter boats, not NY. I had heard it from a buddy a thought it was for ny. I googled it and did find the letter. For 6 packs they propose only 5 people unless they are all family. Doesn't say in what combo like capt, deck hand and 3customers etc

Hi CaptFP,
I did notice the post referred to NJ and there is no doubt there will have to be different rules put in place for smaller vessels. From what I am reading it looks like each state will be implementing it's own regulations.
I have already read that New Hampshire will be opening up their party boat fleet with a 50% capacity, all passengers wearing face masks and gloves on May 18. Saw a similar report saying Rhode Island may be open as early as May 15, even on 6 packs, but no clues on the rules for smaller vessels.

My big concern is the 6 packs will be restricted to only 2 or 3 customers which will severely curtail our businesses and/or profit margins. I really feel bad for the guys who do this F/T.

I wonder how they define ‘Family’ and how they will enforce that.

This will continue to effect the bait and tackle shops in a negative way. I was going fishing today with my cousin. Now I'm not. The spearing and GULP I would have purchased, I am not purchasing.

Family means same address. I called the town. I said my daughter has an apartment, but is frequently over for dinner. Can I take her fishing. The answer was no since her license has a different address.
That is in total contradiction to what I've been told. I have been told by the folk's in Albany that the "household" refers to and from the vessel and that you can fish with anyone on your boat as long as you can keep social distancing as recommended by CDC. You cannot take anyone to your boat that's no in your family, but if you meet them at the boat you can fish.

Do you have any sort of reference for this. Please do not misunderstand. I believe you. But documentation for the "extra security" mentioned here. Anyone know if this is true?

Also, let me see if I understood what you posted:

You cannot take anyone to your boat that's no in your family, but if you meet them at the boat you can fish.

So if I want to go fishing with a cousin or friend. We go in sperate cars, and board my boat out the dock, that is acceptable?

A friend thinks they will be really strict about this. Maybe in the May 15th Cuomo re-eval we can all go boating and fishing.

Will be 70 next year and intend to make it. I have no intention of going out on any boat this summer with anyone other than my bride or the one son who lives here. You just won't know if someone outside of your household encountered a "typhoid Mary" and is as yet asymptomatic. The papers today report that the majority of the new hospitalizations are people who allegedly stayed at home and did not travel. Judging from the actions of my neighbors, my guess is that relatives from outside of the household visited. Fortunately for me, I mainly kayak fish.

I agree 100% Pequa I'm 72 & plan on more that a few more. My youngest son is 43, single & lives in an apt. about 70 miles away. We don't get to see him as much as we would like, & I really look forward to spending a few days on the boat together. He is healthy, but "out their" working so unless something drastically changes it doesn't look like we will be fishing together any time soon.

Almost the same thing happened to me.
