Painting my cowl

So, my new to me outboard, a 2004 Yamaha HPDI(yes I lnow about these motors, have read enough threads of them blowing cylinder #2) Z300hp was in very good shape except for the cowl and the bottom half of the LU.

The top cowl looked like it got beat up with jigs and sinkers and the lower unit had bottom paint on it. Derp

I took the top of the cowl off. There was six bolts and one of them was broken off it base, and I had to epoxy it back in place. Easy peasy.
I then sanded it down, added some filler to the big dents and primed it. Sand it down again, add more fillers to tiny pin holes and sand it down.
When it warms up a little or I have time over the weekend, I will prime it again, sand it one more time then prep it for 3 layers of paint and 3 layers of 2k clear cote.

Hopefully that will keep it from chipping against any rigs or jigs.

Here a pic of the 0X66 250hp cowling and it's lower unit I did a few years ago.

Hope this helps anyone who was thinking about doing something like this.
