Here are the details about specific parks and permits. Exceptions apply. For more information, visit parks.ny.gov. It’s like they sit around thinking of ways to charge us. We even have to pay a $40 fee to find things with a metal detecor that people lost

Night sport fishing
Cost: $35 for New Yorkers, $60 for out-of-staters.
Required: Driver’s license, vehicle registration and DEC marine registry.
Valid: After sunset from April 1 to Dec. 31, unless otherwise noted.
After sunset parking at:
Captree: Main field, Overlook and Captree Drawbridge (24-hour access, north side).
Jones Beach: Fields 6 and 10, West End 2, West End Boat Basin, West End Dock Area (24-hour access) and Green Island (24-hour).
Hither Hills: Not valid from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Montauk Point: Lower parking lot.
Robert Moses: Field 2 from April 1 to Dec. 31 (24-hour access), Field 3 from Sept. 15 to Dec. 31 (24-hour), Field 4 from April 1 to June 23 (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) and from Sept. 15 to Dec. 31 (24-hour).
Sunken Meadow: Fields 1 and 3 (24-hour access).
Wildwood: Main Field.
Sold at: Babylon headquarters, Jones Beach, Montauk Downs, Robert Moses, Sunken Meadow, Wildwood.

4WD beach vehicle fishing
Cost: $80, $125 out-of-staters.
Required: Driver’s license, vehicle registry, marine registry.
Valid: Year-round at Hither Hills, Montauk Point and Napeague. From April 1 to Dec. 31 at Robert Moses (Democrat Point and Sore Thumb), hours vary.
Sold at: Babylon headquarters, Jones Beach, Montauk Downs, Robert Moses, Sunken Meadow.

4WD beach vehicle surfing and windsurfing
Cost: $80; $125 out-of-staters.
Required: Vehicle registration and driver’s license.
Valid: During daylight at:
Hither Hills and Napeague: Year-round.
Montauk Point: Jan. 1 to March 31.
Robert Moses: Year-round at Democrat Point, hours vary. From Sept. 15 to Dec. 31 at Fields 3 and 4.
Sold at: Babylon headquarters, Montauk Downs and Robert Moses.

Camp Hero fishing
Cost: $40, $75 out-of-staters.
Required: Driver’s license, vehicle registration, marine registry.
Valid: After sunset from April 1 to Dec. 31.
Sold at: Babylon headquarters and Montauk Downs.

Caumsett fishing
Cost: $40, $75 out-of-staters.
Required: Driver’s license, vehicle registration, marine registry.
Valid: April 1 to Dec. 31.
Sold at: Babylon headquarters and Caumsett (limit: 500).

Stargazing permit
Cost: $35, $60 out-of-staters.
Required: Driver’s license, vehicle registration.
Valid: Year-round at:
Jones Beach: West End 2 and Field 6.
Hither Hills: Except July and August.
Montauk Point: Upper Parking Lot.
Robert Moses: Field 2.
Sunken Meadow: Fields 1 and Field 3.
Wildwood: Main Parking Lot.
Sold at: Babylon headquarters, Jones Beach, Montauk Downs, Robert Moses, Sunken Meadow and Wildwood.

Regional diving
Cost: $80, $125 out-of-staters.
Required: Diver’s certification card, vehicle registration.
Valid: April 1 to Dec. 31 at:
Caumsett: Fisherman’s parking lot (24-hour access).
Jones Beach: Field 10 East End (24-hour).
Orient Beach: 8 a.m. to sunset.
Robert Moses: Democrat Point (hours vary, four-wheel drive needed).

Cost: $40

FWIW, seniors can park free at state lots during the week while the parks are open. Just need to show your drivers license.

I do it at Captree during the week.

You would still need a permit at the parking lot for the Captree draw bridge and the Wantagh draw bridge.

LOL, probably. And that doesn't even take into account if you want the Southhampton permit, if non-residents can even still get it. Last time I checked it was $250.00.

Now the permits are up to $80 and for those of us to the west, Demo is the only option, and it's unusable all summer unless you get there before 7

Did not know about the metal detector permit.Man was i read the riot act by a parks cop on moses one afternoon in front of my family.well got the permit and check this out among all the rules about cleaning up the beach of bottle caps nails and assorted junk if you are lucky enough to find something that has a monetary value of more than 25 bucks you have to turn it in at the parks office !!!

The original Saltwater License was $10 but people made a big stink about it so they rescinded the fee and changed it to the Marine Registry. I guess it pays to speak up.

Actually, I believe it was the lawsuit by the towns on the east end granted a centuries old covenant for free fishing rights that forced the state gubmint to rescind it. I got my lifetime fee back in total, but others ate the ten bucks.
