Outstanding catch guys and congrats on the release. That's the way it's done!!!Best day of the season from my home port in the Western Sound.
Started deep and got a limit to about 5 lb, then headed east to fish a rock pile in about 30' when the bite slowed.
My buddy Wayne starts to groan and mumble something about a big fish. As I reel in and put down my rod to reach for the net, I see him practically pulled overboard as he struggled to keep his fish up and out of the rocks with his drag screwed down tight. Eventually, he gets his fish to the surface and I can't believe how big it is. A new boat record, at a fat 27". The boga kept bouncing between 11 and 13, so I'll go with 12. Good thing my digital scale was safely resting on my dresser.
After a few quick pics, she went back into the water and didn't need any reviving before she went straight to the bottom.
Left them biting.View attachment 87437View attachment 87438

With the number of fishable days in my Tog season fading fast I had to take advantage of Wednesday’s gift from the weatherman. My good friends Lep and Mitch from the board joined me as we headed straight to Fishers on a flat calm sea.Congrats, Its always a great feeling catching a double digit tog then releasing them to fight another day. Well done!
Great trip guys!!!With the number of fishable days in my Tog season fading fast I had to take advantage of Wednesday’s gift from the weatherman. My good friends Lep and Mitch from the board joined me as we headed straight to Fishers on a flat calm sea.
As has been the pattern now for my last 3 trips all I needed was one drop and the fish found our hooks with ease. We enjoyed a steady pick of Tog all morning boating our limit to 5.25# by 11 am. No real biggies on this trip although, as is typical, we did break off a couple of heavyweights that were determined not to be caught! Pete also landed one real nice Sea Bass to top off the catch on a short but very satisfying day.
So, naturally as the fishing heats up the wind starts to blow even harder. I have already cancelled 3 trips in a row starting today. I hope I can finish my season with at least one or 2 more trips surrounding the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to all and if you are still floating, the Tog are out there, just be safe getting to them!

We who were there in person know it was a nice fish PeteThanks for the invite Mike! I'm keeping my boat floating 'til the south shore's very end, so maybe we get a couple of trips in before it shuts down.
On another note, I have to remember to hold out a nice blackfish more than I would a decent fluke. That fish in the pic was the biggest of the day at 5lbs4oz and it looks like a shortie. Oh well, anyway it'll fry up real nice tomorrow night, for an old-fashioned family fish-fry.
Actually, my bad Pete. I did a lousy job of showing off the size on that nice Tog. Usually, my photo skills are much better. At least you had the enjoyment of both catching and later eating that fine specimen! Thanks for the invite Mike! I have total confidence in the original "Capt. Crab" to find us some Tog on the west end when we can get a decent weather day. Thanks for the invite Mike! I'm keeping my boat floating 'til the south shore's very end, so maybe we get a couple of trips in before it shuts down.

Then there's that F#&-$d up inlet you need to get through......ugh.You must mean "IF we can get a decent weather day," right?
It seems every Fall the "wind issue" gets worse. I do recall extended periods of late-season wind 25-30 years ago, but NOTHING like we've seen the past few seasons. Really puts a crimp in my style.![]()
It does seem that the wind factor appears to get worse each fall. I can fish almost any day the weather allows and looking at the current forecast I think my season just ended this past Wednesday. You must mean "IF we can get a decent weather day," right?

If things don't change that will mean 11 straight days ending on Sunday 12/1 where I can't find a single day to fish!!!
Really sucks.
Just mortgage your life and buy a 50' Dixon. You should be able to fish a few extra days in that!It does seem that the wind factor appears to get worse each fall. I can fish almost any day the weather allows and looking at the current forecast I think my season just ended this past Wednesday.

Actually, I already tried that plan, but I guess my life is only worth half of what you might think.Just mortgage your life and buy a 50' Dixon. You should be able to fish a few extra days in that!![]()
