And just like that some baked seasoned fresh fluke over cilantro lime rice.

Quick report. Capt. Mike and Kevin/longcast aboard for a deep trip. Beautiful day, again very slow drift and bite. Lots of hangers-on and "one pump chumps" that wouldn't commit. Ended the day with 4 fish in the box, Mike's the day's best at roughly 4.5lbs. Had one nice biscuit and a half dozen ling as well.

It's just a matter of time before the zone you're fishing comes alive. I feel a DD fish or two in your future!

Another top-notch effort by Lep even though the Fluke were not in the mood to eat properly. Thanks for a fun day.
Better days and boat limits are not too far off for one of our local Fluke experts!

Late report. Sailed with KenScot and RobbiePav to my offshore office. Unlike the previous three trips there was a significant breeze (initially) pushing us along, necessitating 5oz bucktails. Started catching well, with three for the box, plus a lot of husky Jersey-sized toss-backs. Unfortunately, the breeze died just before the turn and that was that. Back to the 0.0 - 0.2 drift speed of all of our prior trips, which the keepers just don't seem to find appealing for their bait-hunting druthers. So, finished the day with just the 3 keeps, though it was a truly lovely day to be on the water. I can't say anyone did any better than we did, because we didn't see a net move on any boat all day - including aboard the party boat that came out to the deep. But I do know that one of my buddy-boats, who sailed out there and fished alongside us took the golden sombrero, a total skunk-a-roo. This is shaping up to be a really tough season, that's for sure. Don't know about next weekend, as of now the conditions look a bit dicey to me, but we'll see. A rare RobbiePav sighting:

Heavy Fog today changes my plans to fish the ocean today
Was solo and stayed inside Shinnecock bay and put about 25 fluke on the deck including a bunch of fat 18’s and lots under 16”
Managed to find 2 keepers at 19 and 20
At least they were nice and fat and healthy and catching all the fish in 5-8’ of water is a blast

Sailed deep with KenScot yesterday. Funny, heard that the boats fishing to the far West has a NE breeze, as ours was ESE all day. Anyway, the conditions were pretty decent, though the breeze against tide situation wasn't helping our bait presentation. But we really only needed 5oz later in the morning when the tide finally aligned with the breeze. Had to have boated at least 60 fish, with a grand total of two keepers, both right at 19". Jeez.

I haven't posted on all of our recent trips, as I've been too disgusted to even type out the words. Turns out that so far our best trip of the season was the very first one, during which George and I boated a nice limit of fat fish by lunch. All downhill from there. Scuttlebutt is that there are some keepers in the local Bay, but you have to constantly deal with the seaweed, jet skiers and the dopey Sea Ray crowd throwing monster wakes. That goes double on weekends, when I usually fish.

I dunno if its the only reason, but that gigantic windmill barge was about 2 miles south of us, and the pile-driving was loud and clear. Ken thought he could feel the vibrations in the boat. Maybe turning off the better fish. maybe not. Who freakin' knows?

Yesterday myself, Jenn and my friend jumped onboard Salty Dog Charters to give a shot at some fluke to the west. Started off fishing some channels waiting for the tide. After a few shorts my friend lands a nice 23" fish to start it off. Still picking through shorts we decide to run out to the ocean and try out there. Tons of shorts, and we managed two more keepers out there and some sea bass that were too small to keep. Decide to try inside again were we competed with more shorts before deciding to call it a day.

Thats great you got Jenn out on some fish!

Yea she did really good! I let her use one of my setups. I was reluctant 😅.
I agree that is great to see Jenn out and joining in on the fun! I hope you let her use that Palmaryus #0 that was pretty hot at Montauk this past week!!

I have a feeling she is going to really put the hurt on the Sea Bass next week. I plan on doing some serious prospecting for you this Wednesday
