Post your 2019-2025 Fluke Pix & Trip Reports Here!

Started out real early to get fuel and find the peanuts. They eluded me real good for a bit but perseverance paid off. Interesting how many mullet came up in the net. Could that be a great surf run in the next week? Anyway, got to the areas a little later than intended but dropped the lines in. First spot - zero. Ugh. Is this my day? Moved around a bit and found them good. Many peanuts sacrificed their young lives to assist putting 14 keeps in the boat and 7 shorts. Mind you, the shorts were 19 -19 1/4. Just an awesome and savage bay bite. Peanuts on a 3/0 hook with a 1/2 oz egg sinker on a light spinning rod. Each fish was a powerhouse on the fight, ripping drag and running around the boat, embarrassing me with each swing of the net. When the carnage was done, ended with a 6 3/4 pounder, a 5 even pounder and 4 3/4 pounder in the ice. Pictures are scarce as my son cancelled on my late last night. Last year he was the man for weight and numbers. Anyway, sent him pictures along the way to rub it in, LOL.
Be safe, not cold or rough enough to clear the water of the problems. Soon!

Wow, fantastic trip, Kevin. I'm hearing that right now live peanuts are indeed magic.

Fantastic!
What a day
That’s awesome!

The fluke fishing in the Fire Island area has been really good. Fish are fat and in the right spot, tide and bait, we hooked up a lot of fish. Nothing too big today but perfect for fillets. Five almost fish as Longcast said, 19" - 19 1/4".

Here's an interesting fish. It's the closest one. It had mono wrapped around it's body. The two inner holes is where the line went through it's skin and came back out four inches or so away. It was pretty crazy.

Nice catch, Crabman!

Regarding unusual catches, one of my customers caught an 8# Tog a few years that also appeared to have been caught in some type of trap for a period of time. Notice the indentations on the upper part of its body.
