Should They Board, or Shouldn't they?

A longtime Jbay fisherman and know poacher just got in busted. 35 bluefish over the limit. 10 in the cooler. The rest hidden around the boat. Do we applaud DEC for the bust or complain that they shouldn't have searched the is boat?
You bring up a good point. But I would still be opposed had they no reason to board them.

Hoping this can get back on track. Boardings on the water.......................

Not sure why it went elsewhere. Well, maybe.

No, please do not disturb "me" time. It is short and precious. That is my only time to unwind and enjoy the sport I love.
I have to disagree with you Kevin
Why should there be 2 sets of rules for law enforcement?
Boaters who can afford boats don’t have to follow rules or be held accountable but peeps on land can have their homes, businesses, and places of worship entered and thats OK?

Seems kinda hypocritical to me
If we are expected to be a society of law abiding citizens the same rules should apply to enforcing rules across the board

And I am in no way suggesting I am a proponent of over enforcement and harassment on the water. I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy of being opposed to law enforcement when it affects our sport

"Boaters who can afford boats don’t have to follow rules or be held accountable"

Who said that? I always follow the rules on the water. Pretty frightening not to for my safety and the safety of others. If I am ripping through a no wake zone have at it, pull me over. If I am running without lights at nigh have at it, pull me over. If I am driving erratically again, pull me over.

I have never had anyone enter my home, my business, or place of worship for any reason. Where are you going with this?

"And I am in no way suggesting I am a proponent of over enforcement and harassment on the water."

Sure you are. I have NEVER been pulled over for any reason on the road unless it had to do with my utter stupidity. And yeah, earlier times in life it was justified.

"

Keep your hypocrisy to yourself. I need to know what law I broke floating along fluke fishing and "law enforcement" being needed.

I guess where I'm going with this is can a bunch of middle aged and above white guys be upset about getting their rights infringed on to check their catch but not be outspoken or concerned about young people of color being harassed or by what ICE and the national guard are currently doing across the country?
Exactly.

Im 60 years old my friend 😎
The days of getting my balls busted were 30-40 years ago so I've evolved LOL

You, sir, are a study in self-contradiction.

Regardless of age, when you got hassled by the PD, you didn't seem to appreciate it. You identified with others who get hassled, but you're okay with people getting hassled today.

Maybe you can relate if I try to put it in "Leftspeak.":

If it's okay for law enforcement to violate the civil rights of the "Privileged" class, how do you think they're going to use that power against the "Victim" class?

You bring up a good point. But I would still be opposed had they no reason to board them.
I'm on the fence now and watching your video was disturbing. Even with boardings, these poachers are making alot of money. Many fish every day under the radar. If you force DEC to get warrants, you'll never catch someone in the act. There needs to be something in place where a perp is observed and filmed keeping small and overlimit. With probable cause, they should be allowed to search a vessel. Anything else seems egregious.

That said, I'm comfortable having my boat or car searched but not my house.

Apples and oranges.

The thread was about boardings on the water which, as I stated is protected by law. Following someone to a parking lot is harassment plain and simple.

Failure to grasp the concept.

You boat or your car, the same rules need to apply, or our civil rights become subjective.

As I'm sure leftists will tell you, the Supreme Court can be wrong. In this case, the leftists on the Supreme Court were wrong. DWI checkpoints, random boarding, eminent domain for commercial purposes are all an unconstitutional violation of individual rights.

Still waiting for the overfunded test case you mentioned to make it's way to prove me right.
