Word has it that some may be thinking that we have too many bunkers around and that thining them pout out may stop the shark bites we have seen?

Unbelievable stupidity!!!

Next they'll be saying we should then out the bunker so whales won't be running into boats like what happened 2X in MA this weekend!!

Let's go back to making bunker face cream LOL. Since that change with vacuuming up bunker other sports fish have been thriving. Tuna are closer more bass and cobia. It's the same arguments about guns and drunk driving. Take away guns will prevent mass shootings or take away a car to prevent drunk driving. As other sports fish regenerate hopefully it will make the fishery better and cut down on the amount of bunker. However it is crazy outside of Jones Inlet with the amount of sharks you can't get away from them. The beaches can always put up shark barriers like an exclusion net not gill nets or drum lines. Lastly, if there was some easy way to donate shark for the homeless or soup kitchens I'm sure you could get people to target shark.

@Bassknuckles You make some great points. I have a podcast coming out sometime today and I have this exact discussion with an expert on the subject.

This is one issue we can NEVER back down on it. As you mention, it's the reason our south shore is once again a great fishery!
