I don't remember having to do that in the 60's, was it more the 50's?
I do remember these in basements of buildings though.

I started first grade in 1955 and graduated in 1963 and I remember and it honestly didn’t make a big impression on me. Cuban Missile Crisis was 1962 so somewhere in the late 50’s early 60’s. Oh and it was a Parochial School.

I definitely recall the under the desk and the into the basement drills in elementary school in Queens in the '68-'71 era. I also recall afterwards discussing with my friends the possibility that we could all die in an instant.

I can remember most of the toys in the 1950’s Video.:)

same here.......

I remember a certain Lone Ranger toy both my brother & I had. Large plastic Lone Ranger white hat that had a compartment in it. You'd turn the hat upside down - hit a little button & a cap gun on a spring would pop out & shoot.

I've searched several times trying to see if I could find one or a picture of one with no luck. Brother & I played with those endlessly. Was also our favorite Saturday Afternoon Show.

We'd wear them when watching.
8-)
