Who remembers turning on your high-beams by stepping on the switch with your left foot ! Darn Millennials don't believe me :p
Hi beams !! who remembers starting with the step on switch next to the Hi Low switch. :) The switch was right o top of the starter, no wires no solenoid.

Celly, i was in the Navy then stationed in Bayonne. :D

My grandfather had a really old pickup/dump truck that had the foot starter switch... Pretty sure it had a manual choke too!!

All true but we didn't have toilets. We had Troughs , with straight boards for seats. Pretty cozy if you don't mind taking a dump along with 15 of your very close friends. Oh and $44. every pay period (2 weeks) for seaman recruit.

had a 63 Chevy Nova - high beam switch on the floor - wing windows - manual choke - 3 speed on the column - that's what I learned to drive in

Well i did say "That's how folks really learned to drive" I said nothing about how smart they were. :giggle:

by the time I was finished with her:
  • the front bumper was tied on with rope
  • I worked the windshield wipers by pulling on a rope that was tied to the wiper arms - came in through the driver's wing window - you pulled on the rope when it was raining
  • there was a hole in the floor on the front passenger side - you could see the pavement through it - about a foot wide - I placed a piece of plywood over it so you could sit in that seat - only issue with that was every time I went through a puddle the water would splash up - hit the muffler & turn to steam which then filled up the car if I didn't have any windows open
  • the 3 speed shift nob/rod thing on the column snapped off about 3 inches from the column & I used a vice grip on the nub that was left to shift
