Great piece of music. But if RamJam hadn't brought it into the mainstream nobody would know farkall about it.
And before certain Commies call me a racist I would point out that nobody would know this song by an old white guy if some blues player hadn't made it popular.
we're so used to hearing them over the decades that they just seem to fade into the whole song - but when you hear them isolated like this - it really makes you appreciate the guitar wizardry that was going on form all three of them (John/Paul/George)..........
Not all solos belonged to Harrison. Sometimes Lennon &/or McCartney took the lead part. In the Carry That Weight/THe End Reprise it was all three of them taking a turn. You'll see that later on.
On And Your Bird Can Sing it was Lennon & Harrison taking the lead guitar parts.
Get Back was all Lennon.
Funny part is there so well known - you don't need the rest of the tune to know what song it's coming from.
No. They don't "shred". They compliment the song they are accompanying.
.Something, Get Back, Octopus's Garden and Let it Be. My Favs.
Not many Younguns even know That simple music from my day. Before Country it was Hillbilly music. And yes Hank wasn't the first or last to copy Blues.Sorry about the bold but i don't know why that's happening.
Hank certainly brought blues into Country music. Move It On Over was his creation, but if George Thorogood hadn't rearranged it and recorded it it would never have been as well known today. Early rock and R&B musicians covered a lot of Hanks songs, so the traffic went both ways.
And yes, hillbilly music. What they call Country today is just rock & roll sung with a twang. There's a sidebar as to why I get a kick out of that joke in the Blues Brothers about them having both kinds of music, Country and Western. Country ain't Country anymore, but when it was it was Country. Western referred to Western Swing, Bob Wills music for example. So, two kinds, just not the only two kinds.
When you do the research, it is amazing how many songs are covers of much older songs. At least the artists know quality and try to keep it in the present.
Perfect example - Robert Johnson wrote & recorded this in 1937 - it's been covered numerous times by the likes of the Stones & Clapton. I believe Hendrix did a cover of it as well. Crossroads is another Robert Johnson tune.
Go Down the List & See How Many Titles You recognize - then look at the recording date to the left
Very true.
I think someone needs to cover "Dead Shrimp Blues" just for the title if nothing else.
Did Zeppelin have more issues than the Stairway lawsuit?
