So whats some of your Favorite music videos

Great piece of music. But if RamJam hadn't brought it into the mainstream nobody would know farkall about it.

And before certain Commies call me a racist I would point out that nobody would know this song by an old white guy if some blues player hadn't made it popular.

Not many Younguns even know That simple music from my day. Before Country it was Hillbilly music. And yes Hank wasn't the first or last to copy Blues. :) Sorry about the bold but i don't know why that's happening.

we're so used to hearing them over the decades that they just seem to fade into the whole song - but when you hear them isolated like this - it really makes you appreciate the guitar wizardry that was going on form all three of them (John/Paul/George)..........

Not all solos belonged to Harrison. Sometimes Lennon &/or McCartney took the lead part. In the Carry That Weight/THe End Reprise it was all three of them taking a turn. You'll see that later on.

On And Your Bird Can Sing it was Lennon & Harrison taking the lead guitar parts.

Get Back was all Lennon.

Funny part is there so well known - you don't need the rest of the tune to know what song it's coming from.

No. They don't "shred". They compliment the song they are accompanying.

.Something, Get Back, Octopus's Garden and Let it Be. My Favs.

Hank certainly brought blues into Country music. Move It On Over was his creation, but if George Thorogood hadn't rearranged it and recorded it it would never have been as well known today. Early rock and R&B musicians covered a lot of Hanks songs, so the traffic went both ways.

And yes, hillbilly music. What they call Country today is just rock & roll sung with a twang. There's a sidebar as to why I get a kick out of that joke in the Blues Brothers about them having both kinds of music, Country and Western. Country ain't Country anymore, but when it was it was Country. Western referred to Western Swing, Bob Wills music for example. So, two kinds, just not the only two kinds.

When you do the research, it is amazing how many songs are covers of much older songs. At least the artists know quality and try to keep it in the present.

Perfect example - Robert Johnson wrote & recorded this in 1937 - it's been covered numerous times by the likes of the Stones & Clapton. I believe Hendrix did a cover of it as well. Crossroads is another Robert Johnson tune.

Go Down the List & See How Many Titles You recognize - then look at the recording date to the left

Very true.

I think someone needs to cover "Dead Shrimp Blues" just for the title if nothing else.
 8-)(y)
here ya go................

if you load Dead Shrimp Blues into youtube - you'll be amazed by the amount of covers - none by any big name artist (at least none I've ever heard of) - there's a load of 'em

I woke up this mornin' and all my shrimps was dead and gone
I woke up this mornin', ooh, and all my shrimp was dead and gone
I was thinkin' about you, baby, why you hear me weep and moan

I got dead shrimps here, someone is fishin' in my pond
I got dead shrimps here, ooh, someone fishin' in my pond
I've served my best bait, baby, and I can't do that no harm1

Everything I do, babe, you got your mouth stuck out
Hole where I used to fish, you got me posted out
Everything I do, you got your mouth stuck out
At the hole where I used to fish, baby, you've got me posted out

I got dead shrimps here, 'n' someone fishin' in my pond
I got dead shrimps here, someone fishin' in my pond
Catchin' my goggle-eye perches, and they barbequin' the bone

Now you taken my shrimps, baby, you know you turned me down
I couldn't do nothin', until I got myself unwound
You taken my shrimps, oohh, know you turned me down
Babe, I couldn't do nothin', until I got myself unwound

One interpretation:
I was a little surprised at the sexual euphemisms in this song! It seems he can't perform and his woman is having sex with someone else out of lack of understanding. 'someone fishing in my pond'. There also soars to be a reference to him discovering 'dead shrimp in' which could mean sloppy 2nd hand seconds yuk! The mention of his fishing hole being closed and his woman sticking her mouth out in a pout whilst not letting him put anything in there either is quite explicit & a wonder it got passed the censor! He also refers to relieving himself solo in the line 'got myself unwound'
One of Johnson's other songs he mentions a woman 'squeezing his lemon to the juice run down my leg.' actually a spoken line aside rather than sung.
Lucky the Censor was as useless as most Bureaucrats otherwise we would have been robbed of these incredible musical masterpieces that sound like a whole band playing! AO

Did Zeppelin have more issues than the Stairway lawsuit?

Squeeze me baby, 'till the juice runs down my leg
Squeeze me baby, 'till the juice runs down my leg
The way you squeeze my lemon, I
I'm gonna fall right out of bed, bed, bed, bed, yeah

they were involved with a copyright law suit:
The song was inspired by Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor", which was a song Led Zeppelin briefly incorporated into their live setlist during their first concert tour of the United States. For the second and third North American tours the song evolved into "The Lemon Song", with Plant often improvising lyrics onstage (the opening lyrics to both songs are identical).

Other lyrics, notably "squeeze (my lemon) till the juice runs down my leg," can be traced to Robert Johnson's "Travelling Riverside Blues". It is likely that Johnson borrowed this himself, from a song recorded earlier in the same year (1937) called "She Squeezed My Lemon" (by Arthur McKay).[3] The song also references Albert King's "Cross-Cut Saw".[4]

In December 1972, Arc Music, owner of the publishing rights to Howlin' Wolf's songs, sued Led Zeppelin for copyright infringement on "The Lemon Song".[5] The parties settled out of court. Though the amount was not disclosed, Howlin' Wolf received a check for US$45,123 from Arc Music immediately following the suit, and subsequent releases included a co-songwriter credit for him.[5]
