With fishing season is just about done for this year for most of us who has work to do on their boats.I am getting off easy this year just making new bolsters rebuilding my binnacle controls they started getting cranky towards the end of the season.I have them apart waiting for some parts to come in.I am also checking all my electrical connections alltough I did the wiring completely over about 5 years ago so not expecting to many problems.

I'm considering a spot lock. Of course im thinking about looking at the hummingbird that interfaces with it. I'm also hoping to have my son ceramic coat it again. It's been 3 years so it's probably due. That is something I highly recommend for people like us. I don't care how much blood you get on the deck it cleans up with as simple rinse. I have a 2014 blue Hull and it looks excellent. All I do is give her a quick rinse in the slip. Other than that she's all ready to be splashed.

I used to shrink wrap the boat every ear at a cost of $450.I finally bought a semi custom cover for $735 and been using it for 8 years so far best thing I did.Brought my overhead down quite a bit.

I get by with an 11 by 23 from HFT. Lasts about 3 seasons for around $22. with a coupon... the frame is from a found PVC pipe and left over lumber from new door pallets. Yes, I am a piker.

Yeah, I keep saying I aught to do something like that, but then I see myself out there in a raging February Nor'easter trying to batten down the hatches if something came loose. It's only 1/4 of the total Fall/Spring budget so I go with it...

I have one of those also. A huge canvass that attaches to the t-top and drapes over the boat. Some times I have to knock the snow off of it but other than that it's great.

I cover mine in the water the boat stays at its slip all year takes me about a half a day to set frame ropes and cover.at most I may have to tighten a rope or knock off some snow.

This summer I got a new to me boat. 25' walkaround. I need to upgrade fishfinder/GPS unit. Looking for either simrad or lowrance 7 or 9 inch and a back up gps standalone unit. Not sure if I want to run the wire to the transom as it is now or do a through hull. Not a big fan of drilling holes below the water line.

I also have to clean all plastic windows as they are a little fogged up and dirty. Any suggestions as to best product for that.

I am going to upgrade all bulbs to LED. There is a website that has replacement led's equivalent to incandescent using same base as incandescent.

Compound and wax green hull so it's not as dull and cloudy. Then do rest of boat.


That should cover it until I actually start then I'm sure I will have other things to do.

One piece of advice is DO NOT get a TOUCH SCREEN ANYTHING; guaranteed to gunk it up with fish/bait juices in 5 min if you fish hard. My boat came with a wonderful GPS/Sounder/Radar combo unit and the previous owner was wise enough to avoid the touchscreen version. EXCELLENT DECISION!!

I don't know if its the best product, but I have used this :

I use it on my canvas porch enclosure which has large eisenglass windows. I use it once in the spring when I take them down and once in the fall when I put them back up. Still in great condition after 6 years.

What product do you use,how do u apply it,is a lot of prep work first?

If needs to be done by a professional installer. Luckily my son is a motor head and into auto detailing. He applys a product called Fienlab or ceramic pro. It's not cheap but it keeps the boat like new and I never have to wax it. Google them up maybe they have a diy product.

The stuff is simply amazing. He did all ok if the seats and canvas as well as the outboard. It stops all kinds of rust and a dream to clean. I love it.

I disagree with roccus about the touchscreen. yes-the screen does get bait juice all over it BUT it wipes clean in a second with a screen cleaner-as opposed to the mess getting into the buttons where you can never get them clean. the touchscreen works out great for me

Yep have my touchscreen about 6 years and will never go back to buttons.I am a bit of a clean freak so my hands are always being rinsed off and towel dried so no slop on any of my equipment.

When there's a hot bite going on, I don't have time for clean hands so I'm glad my predecessor opted for buttons. My cell phone is a worthless disaster when I'm catching and I try to use the touchscreen...
