Went out Monday 8/14/23 to troll outside Jones Inlet . I didn't think I'd catch much trolling . A mile outside the inlet the water started getting super clear and clean. I didn't see many Bunker for Cobia fishing, so I put out 2 Bird rigs with 4 feathers and trolled about 6 or 7 knots thru the clear water. One Bonita after another and small Blues. All inshore about 1/2 -3/4 of the way to the freighters , over to the Southeast Grounds where the water turned green, back to Jones Inlet. Nice action all by myself. Looked for floating objects for Mahi Mahi. Flat as a lake , overcast, slack on the way out. Outgoing when I went back to the bay about 12:30PM Started trolling about 8:30 AM. On the way back in I stopped to try for Fluke in the inlet by the Construction dock and one short Fluke after another. The way back In I saw many pods of Bunker east, south, west of the inlet. Green and Purple feathers. Use your GPS mapping to continually stay in the clear water, there's a big patch of super clear water surrounded by green water here and there.
