Had "one of those days" this morning. A beautiful, sunny day marked with reasonably calm seas as I headed out of the bay. Wasn't much life on the machine when I got to the spot, but nailed a nice 20" cod on my first drift, released for another day. After a few more fishless drifts, I caught a tiny pollock so I decided one more drift and proceeded to make a "Nice STUPID, didn't you noticed you just drifted across a trawl!!" move and I deservedly lost a rig.
Well started back for the barn and decided to try one more spot, and was immediately rewarded with a smaller cod which raised my spirits. However, I then committed another DF move by not jigging up my diamond jig the instant it hit the bottom, as I hung bottom and lost a second rig. That was the nail in the morning's coffin as I realized Poseidon et al. were laughing their asses off at me and it was time to head home before they threw a far worse disaster at me for their comic amusement...
Oh well, stripers should be in soon...
