Well-Known Angler
Fished out of Mattituck Inlet yesterday for the last of the ebb tide. Ran to the sea bass grounds & soon found out that with the W/S/W wind & ebb tide 12oz on sinker wasn't going to be enough to find & hold the bottom. Small porgies & sea robins were the order of the morning. With little more than an hour left in the tide, decided to run to one of my old favorite Stripe Bass spots that really hasn't shown very much life in the past few seasons, just to keep it honest. Second drift, with a bucktail on a 3 way, put the rod in a rod holder to take a drink of water, as this isn't a very sticky bottom. Turned back around & had a fish on, & put a fat 31" striper on ice. Don't know is accidental bass count, but they taste just as good.
