What's up, surf rats! Steve here with the latest from the suds. The fall run is still kicking, and if you're willing to put in the time, the rewards are there. The beaches from Robert Moses to Southampton are holding fish, you just gotta find 'em.

The big news is the sand eel bite. It's been fueling some steady action, with stripers of all sizes chasing them down in the wash. We're also seeing some bunker around, which is always a good sign. The best action has been at first light and around sunset, but don't be afraid to fish after dark, especially with the new moon this weekend.

I've been throwing a lot of bucktails and diamond jigs, and they've been producing consistently. Needlefish and bottle plugs are also getting some love, especially after dark. The key is to match the hatch, so if you're seeing sand eels, throw something long and skinny. If you're seeing bunker, throw something a little bigger.

The word from the shops is that the bite is on. Chasing Tails in Oakdale is reporting tons of bass on the beach, and the guys at White Water Outfitters in Hampton Bays are saying the sand eel bite is strong. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and get your line tight!
