WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously preserved access to a medication that was used in nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the U.S. last year, in the court’s first abortion decision since conservative justices overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago.
The nine justices ruled that abortion opponents lacked the legal right to sue over the federal Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the medication, mifepristone, and the FDA’s subsequent actions to ease access to it. The case had threatened to restrict access to mifepristone across the country, including in states where abortion remains legal.
This case/decision has been miss used by virtually all involved, especially the media of all ilk.
Did the Supreme Court rule that selling an abortion drug is legal like the news snippet above??
HELL NO!!
They rightly said, that this case, which actually contested whether or not the FDA properly tested this particular drug, is that the SCOTUS was not going to even hear this case because it's not within the rights of the group who brought up the case. They HAD to rule unanimously. The proposed case had absolutely NOTHING to do with abortion.
So now the winners and loser are off celebrating or licking their wounds about much ado about nothing. To me it's nice to see the Court looking at the letter of the law without not spinning things towards or against any particular social issue.
