ROTFLMAO - Stupid Gaijin Tricks!! One doesn't eat Fugu unless it's been prepared by a licensed chef in Japan. Yup, tetrodotoxin (TTX) will stop your breathing right quickly, it blocks the Na+ channel in your neurons, and no Na+, no nerve impulses so no breathing. Learned that in the first lecture in Graduate School Physiology.

Of course after learning that I had to try Fugu and have had it twice, most recently this past April. It is a delicacy and it was served 5 different ways in my most recent Fugu Feast. The fried version tastes just like LI Blowfish, they are cousins, but our version doesn't have lethal doses of TTX...
