The Moon

Getting crushed after hours when the news broke (5PM est) Friday). Would have been a good short Monday. Might still be

Intuitive and NASA held a news conference on Friday evening. The lander "is stable, near or at the intended landing site," said Intuitive CEO Steve Altemus. One hiccup though — the lander is on its side.

Altemus said the craft was going 25,000 miles an hour in orbit and landed at about 6 miles an hour, with a horizontal speed of about 2 miles an hour — a comfortable walking pace. The company believes one of the lander's feet caught on something on the way down, causing it to trip.

Flower Moon Tonight, but check this tide schedule.
  • Extremely wimpy, but this time of year New Moon better than Full Moon. A "manly tide" moon tide will have a tidal range of almost 14'. Today's ~8' is neap tide status
  • The time of the AM/PM high/low tide is only 1 minute different, not the normal 13ish minutes
All the reason for ignoring your analog tide clock and getting something digital that pulls the data from the NOAA database.

Beaver Moon from my perspective, 12.7' tidal differentiation!!

It's the last Supermoon until October, 2025, which means I'll have a tough time getting to those "Double Secret Probation" shellfish spots for a year!! :(:(:(:(
