Doing a damage control analysis of why last night's telescope session was a total bust. The report is emphasizing rookie mistakes made due to a 25 year lapse in use like having the tripod too high, etc., confounded by plummeting temps which necessitated hitting the scope every 3 minutes with a hair dryer to remove the dew forming on the lens.

I had the scope outside for hours covered prior to nightfall to allow it to temperature equilibrate, but that didn't compensate for the plummeting temps we had. I probably would have had to let it sit out there until midnight to avoid that issue and I was long past my patience window by 21:00...

However, there was a bright side. When I awoke at 03:30 to visit the head, I did get to see Uranus out of a window. Wish I could have seen it, along with Jupiter and Saturn in the scope however...

Sipping cup #2 and staring outside when a Coopers Hawk swooped down and made a pass at my plastic owl, LOL!! It's happened before and it seems it's that Coopers Hawks are the only birds that notices the owl. I bought it years ago to scare off grackles that would clean their nests and dump their dumps on my Illinois back deck, and that was a epic fail, they didn't seem to every notice it as they continued to carpet bombed the deck.

When we moved here I didn't know what to do with it so it sits as an ornament over the rocks protecting the power box for the pump that pumps waste water up to the leach field. Considered putting it out on the dock to ward off gulls and cormorants, but just about every dock has one and I've seen gulls sitting on top of them; therefore that would be another epic fail. I've got the gull sweeper and a float full of kayaks and other gear, along with the boat which keeps the guano factory away...

It is a nice plastic figure, has been outside for over 20 years with very little fading or UV damage. Kind of waiting for the day it dies so I can toss it with no regrets...

Looks kind of real.

I’m on cup number 2 myself. The wife has a list of places to go today.....yay (sarcasm). I plan on ripping out the rest of the garden and then bagging it up. After that maybe some more moldings and a quick cleaning of the garage & shed.

When I get back from the stores going to throw a pot of bolognese to simmer for tomorrow nights dinner.

#2 also! Just finished breakfast... Eggs, pancakes, homefries, bacon and sausage. Trying to enjoy the last full day across the bay.

I was looking for the post that Chevy had yesterday showing the Red 1970 Monte.
Cannot find it.

Guess he did not get it or go see it.

Those guys also have a blue one, at a bit cheaper price. I bet you could get the blue on for 14k
The Red one is a bit overpriced but I have not seen it in person.
