Down by me, we all have sump pumps. No matter how good your crawlspace is, water finds a way in. As you can see in the photo, just digging the bucket hole, I was in water. I had to put the rubble in the bucket to hold it down. I bailed some of the water and pour dry mix around the bucket. It really hardened up nicely.
Parents have had a sump pump since I can remember Dad had a French drain installed yrs ago it has helped

I think I have solved most of my problems with this sump and pump. In another house I owned on the water, I did something similar with a sump pump and I added commercial dehumidifier. It really did the trick. I was dry in a day or two. I'm going to do that with this house. I don't have the height for someone to come in and put in a french drain. My crawlspace is a crawl.

This weather isn't really enjoyable. Just found something good and bad. The gate won't open from two feet away but it will open if remote is within an inch of the antenna. I have multiple remotes and it's the same with all. I'm going to clean all the connections on the receiver and main circuit board and coat with di-electric grease.

Connections seem solid but will still try to clean.

Cleaned all the connections, no luck. Found a receiver circuit board locally and it was only $50. Wired it into the main circuit board and it's running perfectly. Always fun when things being fixed, get fixed.

Old receiver on the right. New on the left. Same receiver by the numbers but the circuit board has shrunk dramatically.

I just got my dehumidifier. I installed one of these ten years ago in another house and it's still working strong. This one does not have a pump and that allows it to be $125 cheaper at $800. As far as I'm concerned, that's a cheap price for this really, in my opinion, quality unit. I have gone through the Home Depot dehumidifiers. They don't last, are not as strong and are too tall for my crawlspace. This one has a wired remote controller with a readout of current conditions and settings. It will fit my space nicely and it has an air discharge is on it's side that allows you to duct the exhaust. I plan to let it blast without ducting and hopefully it will help evaporate the damp concrete as air circulated around the crawlspace. I don't feel the 198 pints is not overkill. I think that number is if your humidity is maxed out and at times, that might be the case. As I said, this crawlspace is not a place you want to crawl into on any regular basis. So, with that in mind, I bought the remote controller to keep an eye on performance. I plan to visit it a few times a year for filter maintenance in the beginning. My other one used to go a year without needing a rinse. This house might need it more due to the rough scratch coat. The exhaust from the unit might lift dust. Time will tell.

It's funny looking at the photo of the crawlspace in this advertisement. That one is on the far right end of the bell curve. Mine, unfortunately, is on the other end.

First, a good breakfast and then it's off to the install.
