Had a wonderful day with two different Customer Service organizations, probably should run out and buy a few lottery tickets.
  1. Was pretty sure I had some unused routine service coupons left on my Tacoma, although time had expired. When I bought the car and paid for extended routine service the person selling the plan said they really didn't look at the "expiration date." Well I paid $500 for yesterday's service, but decided to call today and bingo, got an immediate apology and was told and credited that $200 of that bill should have been covered by the program. Boy that was easy...

  2. I have "Dual Maritime Citizenship" because besides fishing, I was a rag sailor, racing on the Sound for my teen and early 20s. At that point of history, the Blow Boat crowd had much better foul weather gear than the old yellow Hellies, and I got hooked on Gill boots, and foul weather gear from the no-defunct Atlantis Co., Patagonia, which is dead to me since they've given up on offshore foul weather gear, and Gill. Two years ago, my beloved, 20 year old Gill boots, the ones I use to muck around for oysters and clams, started to leak and I could not find the source of the leak. At 20 years of age, I figured it was time for a new pair which I bought.

As I was putting them on Tuesday, I noticed a double sealed seam starting to delaminate at the first seal. I figured they wouldn't leak just yet so I used them to grab a few clams with no wet feet. Yesterday I decided to talk w/Gill so I called. The person thought that was odd and asked for some photos which I took and emailed to her. This morning I got an email saying that they would replace the boots under warranty and asked for the address to ship them to. An hour later than that I got an email from UPS saying they have a shipment from Gill coming to me.
It's great when you can talk to people who really want you to remain a customer...

Shades of Mayan Calendar's portending impending doom back on 12/12/2012...

Remember the noise about the end of civilization back in 2012 because that's how far the Mayan calendar went? At Chez Roccus, we've had a similar thing going since New Years Eve in that the calendar function of the home security system as been stuck on 12/31/2021...

I snapped a photo the other morning, but kept forgetting to call the Security System Company until later today, and finally got the expected answer, "No, the world isn't going to end. On our end the correct date is showing. The manufacturer has seen this with all the control panels of that model number and is working on a new firmware to fix it."

LOL, was starting to consider if I should just max out the CCs and have some fun, before the comet hit earth...

By Matt Byrne February 19, 2022

Two people escaped injury Friday night when their side-by-side ATV went through the ice on Sebago Lake.

The call for help came from the Lower Bay area around 8 p.m., a police dispatcher said. The pair were headed to an ice shack when they broke through the surface.

Rescue workers assisted them off the ice, the dispatcher said. It was unknown if the vehicle had been removed.
