Getting a early start

Just finished the lawn's first "trim". The equipment failures, both mine and theirs were pretty funny.

• Took out the walk behind and started it. Ran for 5 seconds and died, "WTF??? I had you running for 10 minutes 2 weeks ago!!!" Ignition cable snapped, the one that doesn't let the damn thing run without you holding down a lever, another Darwin Award defeating thing that sane people have to contend with.
  
  
• Hopped on the Zero Turn and started cutting.
  • Hmmmm, not cutting much - IDIOT, you forgot to lower the mower deck!!!
  • Lower the mower deck: Hmmmm, still not cutting much - Looks like the shop reset your cutting height from you 3.5" to 4.5 inches
  • Hey, look at that, I'm actually cutting things...

Happy Dad here!! My daughter has been wanting to play Volleyball. So we got a net and have been practicing. Also did some session with Mecca Volleyball which is a travel club. She tried out with them last night for the summer session. 18 kids and they were only taking 4 or 5 to add to the existing roster.
Just got the text from the coach and she made the team!! So excited for her and proud. Training starts next week through July (indoor + strength training plus beach in July) and big tournament in Atlantic City over Memorial Day Weekend.
I need a celebratory drink soon!

Congrats!
Be careful, you might not have weekends anymore.
It's been a dozen years of travel, HS and College Softball. Travel took up the most time, basically all year long when you take into account the training sessions. I loved it, spending time with both daughters, making tons of memories and always looking ahead. but I don't think I'm going to miss it.

I’m with @AllyKat on this, congrats & condolences. At least my kids had the good sense of being involved with travel sports and music when we were 1000 miles from salt water. There would be significant turmoil if this would have happened on LI or ME.

Be careful, you might not have weekends anymore.

Travel games were the best. After the kids went to bed the parents all hung out and partied

I have a soon to be 1 year old and a 2 year old. Both boys. I'm afraid of what it's going to be like when they get of age to start playing sports.
