The Night Sky

14 years late and 19x over budget - saw that on the NOVA special.
It's so far out that it can't be fixed - 4x farther than man has ever traveled (to the moon).

Classic Yahoo headline, all doom & gloom, when truth is no significant impact on performance. Guess little oopsies don’t generate hits.

One night during my then too frequent trans Atlantic flights, the pilot got on the intercom and said, "Folks I don't like waking you up, but you really need to open your shades and see this!!" I opened my shade and saw the aurora borealis in incredible detail and beauty, and I was looking OUT not Up. Highlights

  • The 2022 Perseid meteor shower peaks overing Aug. 11-12 and Aug. 12-13. You may also see meteors a few days before and after the peak.
  • To watch, go to the darkest place you can, let your eyes adjust, and look overhead. We recommend timeanddate.com to help you find ideal times and viewing directions for your location.
  • The annual Perseid meteor shower is caused by the Earth passing through debris from Comet Swift-Tuttle, which last passed close to Earth in 1992.
