The Onancock Chronicles the Eastern shore

just got back a little while ago from checking out this woman's 10 acre Lavender Farm..

Met her at the bar during dinner last night - we talked until they closed the place & she invited me to stop by today. So I did. Turns out she's a transplant from Port Jefferson so we hit it off fairly well. She moved down here 17 years ago after quitting the Corporate Life at Channel as a Gemologist in their Marketing Department.

Bought 10 acres & started lavender farming (selling to Wholefoods & online) among other things. She also has a permit to distill hemp to make CBD oil & is setting that up in one of her 4 barns on the property.

Interesting lady & not bad looking...........

Did you take any pics of the property?

no - didn't occur to me - pulled this off the net - shows what the farm looks like when it's in bloom - she grows 4 or 5 varieties - grows other things besides lavender as well - lot of herbs (all of which are sold)

she & her son run the place - in addition to selling the plants - they distill the oil down & sell that as well - they have several lavender based products (creams. lotions, oils, etc) - also makes pottery & paints

dripping faucets....................

???? I have 3 hypotheses.

1. Prostate meds that many of us use when "The Force" is no longer strong with us, not working?

2. Some bizarre Onancockian sexual practice; a date with Ms. Lavender last night?

3. Bubba and Billy Bob don't use none of that Damnyankee "insultation" when they build houses?

if you must know........................

No homes have basements here due to the high water level. So all plumbing runs under the house & is exposed to the outside temperatures. So when it drops below freezing for a few days - you "drip" one or two of your faucets to prevent the pipes from freezing.

Pretty simple really............
:rolleyes:

ROTFFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

BillBob, RayBob and Bubba's Construction Company's finest engineering solution?? "Screw figuring out that problem Festus, they can drip thar faucets just fine!!! We got some possums to skin for dinner!!!" What pray tell happens when you're away and an unexpected cold spell happens, automatic "Pipesicles?" and this is acceptable??? Do they have internet enabled faucets so you can turn on a "Drip" cycle when you're away???

Many houses here are built on slabs, and Double Wides which are off the ground, and they don't need to be "dripped". Trust me the only thing that's different about most of them is that the lobster pots and snowmobiles stored in the yard with the cars on jacks let you know you ain't in Dixie anymore. That being said NOBODY has to pay homage to the Gods of Drip! If they did they'd be running their well pumps from around November 1 through St. Patty's Day.
