I don't get why the market suddenly dropped today over the jobs report. Thy had to know it was going to be bad before it was issued. Would have thought they'd have priced that in. Especially as it made some nice gains yesterday.

Did they expect something different?

There is no more market Larry. Any semblance of what was left after 2008 in now totally controlled and influenced directly by the Federal Reserve and their daily interventions, directly or indirectly, in the various markets (e.g. equities, debt, Fx, commodities, etc...)

However, I guess the quick answer to your question is : the Fed wasn't a buyer of stocks today.

Outside of that, 30MM people unemployed...Likely 40-50 million in the next 6 months if this doesn't reverse soon.

Your mistake is thinking the stock market reacts in logical and predictable manner. If they did, they wouldn't have jumped up so high yesterday on a single blurb for a potential vaccine in the fall. Maybe everyone reassessed yesterdays growth today based on flimsy data and decided to do a little profit taking?

Just my opinion. I'm sanguine enough to know to stay away from craps tables and the stock market, especially in tumultuous times like these...

SOME big players had earnings after the close today and so far futures don't like it,,,,,

Yesterday was FED day....for some reason the market does the reverse the day after...up yesterday...down today

So they seemed to have miraculously gotten the market back up pretty high...this gives some big players who missed the EXIT sign to get out and leave JOE 6PK holding da BAG!! If you don't know who JOE 6PK is then it's YOU!!!

I bought in the low of low back in March m letting it ride now. I was expecting a little sell off today, but it held.
