This has literally nearly been a "walking down the street and seeing a 100 dollar bill on the floor but not picking it up hoping there will be 200 the next time".

That $200 has so far nearly always been there.

I bought at the IPO of $26 a share - it's split two for one 3 times - I roll the dividend back into the stock & was purchasing more of it during the years that I worked there through a payroll deduction program - received Grants & Options several times a year from the company as well.

It's been a golden nugget.

Cashed out nearly $60,000 to cover my daughter's school loans.
The ex wife got $90,000 worth + $20,000 in options.
I'm still sitting on $60 to $70,000 worth of it. Which will go to my daughter when either she gets married or I die.

It's been good to me & it's not costing me a cent to hold onto it.

Why would I sell & pay taxes on all of that profit?

SELL HIGH AND BUY LOW.......IT WENT FROM 220 TO 137 and now is peaking again.....good luck

EL has a P/E over 50....priced for perfection and then some....any blips and it will crash faster than the average stock...as it did recently...but roller coasters are fun.....so strap in!

Good for you ! There is a big difference between investing and trying to "play the market" , which is more like gambling. The gambler picks up the 100.00 and runs. The investor picks it up and buys some more shares in a solid company.

the pros buy low and sell high and then buy low again...wash...rinse ...repeat...then you have the sheep...they are trained to buy and hold...not sell at the high and then PUKE up their shares in a panic at the lows back to the pros who then feed the sheep all over again otherwise known as the "investor" AKA Joe6pack......not actively managing your portfolio by buying and selling is a suckers game.....but for every winning transaction there has to be a loser....so the market would not function with no sheep to shear!!! BAAAAAA!!!

It depends on if any one wants to make themselves crazy keeping up wit dis shit...and how much they have in secured funds at 7%,

I like to sleep ? soundly at night, some peeps have visible aggression... cellfish...

all I know is that despite my age (69) most of our investments is with stocks in mutual funds and various annuities (both stocks and bonds) and we have more now than ever (although with the gubmint printing money to give away to people its probably worth a little less in reality, huh?)

I bought several stocks back in March at the very low. I'm willing to let it ride till November and see what happens with elections. Same with my deferred comp, depending on election will make me determine what I do with everything. Unfortunately I moved everything into stable on election night 2016. Needles to say I missed a lot on the up swing. Got back in a little late, but still made a profit.

someone 'splain to me how this can be with the gubmint printing and giving away money for nothin' and thousands, ney, millions, out of work or with pay cuts like my son and his girlfriend. LIRR lots remain a skateboarders paradise.

Not that I am complaining with the DJI over 28K so far.

the fed by their own words can supply unlimited funds.....but congress has the authority to spend it......sooner or later that formula goes BOOM!!

WHEN I went to LBI last week many businesses were shuttered....and for good. The small business explosion is not reflected in the stock market due to artificial stimulation......but always in the past the rubber meets the road eventually and chit gets UGLY....how many times in the last 20 years have you seen it....and when it goes down it goes down a lot faster than up....if you got time on your side...NP....if you are retired or near it then you are gambling.....everyone has the warm and fuzzy feeling again with the market but all I can say is this
