the "What are you doing NOW" thread (part deux)

Coming to grips with the fact that I can't schlep 1/2 mile in estuary muck, dig 4 dozen clams, and then schlep back without sucking wind and aching all over. I guess clam digging isn't for those of us who are "mature".

Oh well, the 3 Motrin and the extra large dram chaser are helping...

killin' bugs.................................

By the 10's of thousands.

Some sorta gnat swarm probably caused by the warm spell. All over the back wall of my house. Damn critters can make it through the screens on the windows & are finding their way inside. Went through 2 cans of bug spray so far. Believe I got the critters under control.
Sound like a good Alfred Hitchcock Movie...

The meeting of the Eastern shore NYAnglers was a success ! Steamed Oysters and Clams, Garlic Parmesan wings, nice beer selection and we even had Elvis in the House !! Singing Christmas songs. Got to meet the Brit and Anna our bartender was awesome. Happy Hour at the Island house in Wachapreague, Va ?

I see one Elvis one old dude trying too snort a line one guy looking in amazement and the other running Im guessing thats an Onacock get together? Were there Banjos playing?

Actually, Elvis was there for a private Christmas dinner party ....... no Banjo's. We were at the bar with the hot bartender and .50 cent wings and clams. It's a very nice waterfront restaurant !

:)

Sounds like a good workout especially if your wearing neoprene waders..

Neoprene, but of course. Those plus the mud make for a waddle that a goose would be proud of...

At least once our dock floats are in come spring, the neighbor whose dock is right in the "sweet spot" gives me access, so if it's a "chest wader tide" I can drive over there and "suit up".

I’m confused...

Up here we all have the floats at the end of our docks hauled out of the water, and the ramp leading to the float is secured (stored) on the "pier" which sits on pilings. We have floats and ramps attached to a pier because a moon tide is usually 10+ ft from high to low water, neap tides > 8.5 ft from high to low. The winter haul out is for ice protection, as ice forms and would probably rip the floats away if they weren't hauled out. Without our ramps and floats, most of us don't have easy access to the shoreline. My property has a steep 10' drop, but my next door neighbor has a permanent stairway that leads down to the water and he's closer to the "clamming grounds". The neighbor who is on the clamming grounds also has a 10' drop to the shore.

This picture should help, taken from the end of my pier showing the ramp down to the float.
