They have to stock winter flounder to bring them back

I fish 2 rods with a couple of hooks on each rod.

I took my best man fishing. We did the same thing.

I took the Thai guy from work and did the same thing again.

I had to many. I would give them away to the people that just
happened to be there.

I'm telling you it's me, I'm the problem.

The funniest personal flounder haul story of mine involves a nice bucket full of flatties taken on a cold, early spring morning in Mt. Sinai Harbor. I dumped the bucket of fish into the kitchen sink and ran some water over them, while I ran to the head.

Suddenly I heard a major ruckus from the kitchen. I ran in to to see flounders flying out of the sink!! Dumbass me accidently ran hot water over them, and they were not happy about it. as it woke them out of their cold quiescence...

Reynolds channel by the Point Lookout Marina Circa 1982, you fished about 1'4 mile away from the boat ramp on the opposite side next to the marsh and one big flounder after another in early May. You'd also catch a few fluke .Now it's all crabs. A whole generation has grown up never going flounder fishing. They wouldn't know where to fish .

Peak winter fishing in my lifetime was around 1981/1982, You could hop on a Freeport Party boat and expect to catch 5-10 cod no problem. Same with Whiting and Ling Out of Sheepshead Bay , you could fill a bucket up . Flounder was excellent spring and fall. Black fishing was equally good. You didn't have to go out east in those days. Striper fishing was dreadful. Blue fishing was better. And I remember boats going out 15 miles off Fire Island. and caught 1 or 2 White Marlin a boat .
