Wanna build a rod but don't have a table-top wrapping setup to spin on the threads?

Never fear, NFC (Gary Loomis's rod blank shop) to the rescue! Of course you still need a way to rotate the finished rod so the wrap coating dries evenly. But putting together one of those is peanuts, compared to a full wrapping set-up.

Or maybe a better thought, build your rod and give it to a shop like Causeway and let them apply the wrap epoxy. See Mike the rod builder there for this.

IMHO..... looks like crap. That said, I would use it if building an ultralight rod. I hate using "A" thread.

I think Mark Flynn always liked using C and D. He was my guru..........

Nah, I think it looks kinda cool - like a "murdered out" full carbon custom rod. That's why some guys wrap black blanks with completely black thread. Not my style, but it does look legit when complete.

What the vid didn't show is that some guys doing this carbon tape thing do put a thin trim band of thread on the ends of the carbon tape. Maybe three or four turns of thread. I saw a video like that and I thought it looked very custom when complete.

Mark was a lot of guy's guru. I ran into him on the LIRR years after he closed his shop. He had become a conductor. He recognized me before I did him - he was sporting a full beard and so it took a beat or two for my old brain to make the I.D. We chatted briefly and that was that, as he had responsibilities to take care of. He looked well and sounded happy. Probably because he never made any kind of money at all with his shop.

He made Sea Isle alot of money thats for sure!

Great guy, big heart. Glad he's doing well.

Dont like the carbon look much. Kind of like the Matte paint jobs these guys get on their cars.....

Mark from Sea Isle has probably made me 35-40 rods. Just about all of them have these wraps.

I guess I should change the name from NIKKI ANN to EMMA
