Weather

This thing looks like it's coming a little closer each time a new advisory is posted. I bet we have a Tropical Storm Watch issued by the end of today.

I'm hoping the time spent over land knocks it down in strength and when it comes back out over water and aims towards us, the water is cold enough that it doesn't intensify too much.
Its going to move so fast that there won't be much time to prep if does intensify

The scale of the latest update is too large to track the path through Long Island but it is going to be close. Kind of weak it seems according to the marine forecast. Gusts to 30 knts is not too bad. Kind of typical spring / fall bad weather.

Pffft. Thunderstorms are worse. (although I just went out and bought 6 gallons of gas for my little generator.) Anyone wanna bet I will end up dumping the gas into SWMBO's Suabaru ? (Sucker's bet, I ended up charging friends' laptops, cell phones and doing their laundry during Irene and Sandy.)

slightly worse forecast further east
my marina/basin is right on shinnecock bay facing south.
South is worse direction for us as even a steady 20-25mph turns the basin into a washing machine as its all bulkheaded with no beach to absorb the waves.
Basin is at end of my road with our own ramp.
Boats on trailer in driveway ready for a tree to fall on it LOL

just getting a few waves of rain - nothing heavy other then the first one round 1pm - just an annoying type of rain - no wind - although we just went under a Tornado Watch - we'll see how the evening goes

if what I'm getting is any indication of what will reach you - I wouldn't sweat it

Emergency Broadcast System just cut in - scared the crap out of me - announcing a Severe Tornado Warning posted for Norfolk & Virginia Beach urging residents to seek shelter until 8:45. That's about 50 miles south of me.

We're still under a watch. Eye seems to be just southwest of the Eastern Shore between Norfolk/Williamsburg area.

Getting heavy rain & wind is picking up.
DISH Network keeps getting knocked off the air.
