Got slammed today boy. Drain couldn’t keep up. Got some water in my garage.
I seen a guy with an umbrella in the pouring rain with a river running past his house cleaning the drain in the street so the water could go down

Got a power surge in Astoria, electricity went out for a couple of seconds. TV, Cable, lights and our water tank pump. Must have tripped a circuit breaker; a few hours without water. You would think they would have an alarm on the circuit.

I knew as I was filling a gas can yesterday morning in case I needed to run a small jenny for the freezer that this would turn out to be nothing. I have gotten a couple or more inches of rain. The big floating penguin in the pool is close to floating out. Didn't need to take down the umbrellas on my deck either.

just got this message on Facebook from my daughter. She lives in Farmingdale & works in Plainview:

"One side of the lie is closed. 110 is closed. There are small lakes everywhere. I almost got stuck a few times"

Just how bad was it on the Island?

Don't think we had much wind at all. (I am in Matzohpizza.) We have a Mickey Mouse rain gauge, don't laugh, its really very accurate, and it has just under four inches in it right now, with rain still coming down. Being this close to the town boat ramp ( two blocks to the park's entrance) flooding is not an issue. However the underpasses at the LIRR a mile north have probably flooded here as per usual. I am supposedly at 12' above sea level and during Sandy only that park due south of me flooded. I get the paper digitally, did not put my garbage can out last night, and have yet to set foot outside. I am disappointed a bit with the wind. We are at the end of a T intersection and have not had to buy a garbage can (which I use to store boating, pool, gardening and other stuff) in decades. After a decent wind we normally have a strange and unnumbered can in our front garden. I leave it out for seven days on our own garbage can platform. On the eighth day I get my stencil and a spray can. No freebies today. I was hoping at least for a lid.

Edited to add: spoke too soon. Wind arrived. It must be all the way up to 20 or so in gusts. (Maybe a lid ?!)

No for long I see. But that is a typical summer forecast for these dweebs. Give every day between a 30 and 60% chance of rain and you can not lose.
