Some of the videos coming from the Bahamas are frightening. Saw one video of a family stuck in there attic and water is starting to breach into the attic, i hope they had access to getting out on top of the roof.
Then they showed video of a guy filming from the 2nd floor of his house as the water crashed against the windows.

someone in this thread posed the question where do sea mammals & turtles go to avoid hurricanes

Where do sea turtles go during a hurricane? We have several satellite tracked turtles in the potential path of Hurricane Dorian. It will be very interesting to follow them over the course of the storm! Loggerheads Caroline, Kirby (male) and Ursula are hanging out in the Bahamas, a popular foraging area for loggerhead turtles. Sub-adult loggerhead Ollivander and adult female loggerhead Phyllis are both right off Florida's southeast coast. See where all the turtles are traveling here: https://conserveturtles.org/sea-turtle-tracking-active-sea…/

Looks like like some peeps or 1 peep in particular around here may wanna pay attention to these new Key messages from the NHC website. 8-)

Key Messages:

1. Life-threatening storm surge and dangerous winds are expected
along portions of the Florida east coast and the coasts of Georgia,
South Carolina, and North Carolina, regardless of the exact track of
Dorian's center. Water levels could rise well in advance of the
arrival of strong winds. Residents in these areas should follow
advice given by local emergency officials.

2. The risk of wind and rain impacts along portions of the Virginia
coast and the southern Chesapeake Bay are increasing. Residents in
these areas should continue to monitor the progress of Dorian.

3. The flash flood threat will increase tonight along the Florida
east coast and then spread up the southeast and mid-Atlantic
coast during the middle and latter part of the week.
