Looks like a slow moving Cat 1 if that at ground level In the Bahamas. Just talked to my buddy in Lauderdale and he said not much going on, intermittent winds around 20kt and rain.

If this is/was a Cat 5 you can expect the Bahamas to be completely destroyed.. nothing left but mud....

Dorian is likely to miss Florida and then skirt the Outer Banks as a category 2-3 dying Hurricane. Then it will recurve well out to sea and just leave big waves for our area.

Florida dodged a huge bullet. A few days ago, models had it as a category 5 heading right into the Fort Lauderdale to West Palm area.

A front crossing the USA saved Florida. If the front were 12-24 hours slower, what you are seeing in the Bahamas would be over mega populated cities in Florida.

Wow, this sounds like very Good News.

Weather channel has us thinking this is going to hit big somewhere within a Week.

The Bahamas did get hit Cany. Just highly doubt it was a Cat 5 At ground level. Go back a page and look at the wind speeds in the area on the ground to 30 feet to 150 feet above sea level. When the weather channels talk about wind speed they don’t mention their measurement is at 10k feet or so. That’s is where the cat 5 winds were. Way above ground level.

Multiply 155km/hr x .0621 to get MPH. About 96mph. Got to look at altitude of the wind speed. Not 3000 feet.

Hmmm. Interesting perspective. I totally get the concept that winds are different at different heights in the atmosphere but have no clue how to do the math. Have you ever taken any formal meteorology classes to know those formulas? I always wish I had
