I'm headed to Nantucket Shoals next week and I want go fully prepared. I haven't bought myself any new tackle recently so I'm well overdue.

Any suggestions?

The next full moon is August 9th so going next week you will be off the moon which is a good thing for fishing at the shoals. Just about any outfit you use for ocean Fluke fishing on Long Island will be suitable there. Bring along a good assortment of weight up to about 16oz. Poison Tails, Spro jigs, and teasers, are usually productive. Also….important….. Gulp, 6” grubs, assorted colors. I find the Pink Shine to usually be the most productive.

Good luck!!

x2 on Poison Tails and 6" Gulp grubs. Most of the time for me it was chicken rigs with up to 24 oz of lead. Jig when possible. Lots of nice sea bass as a bycatch. It's a long journey, but so worth it. I changed my drive from Throgs Neck Bridge and N on 95 to taking the Orient Point ferry. You don't really save any time, but it is much more enjoyable to me overall.

I hope we have a day like that! Thanks for the tips. I'll post up here how we do.

Do not have experience with this one, but looked interesting if a 7'2" rod needed.
